Crappy vaccum cleaner! Works great - when it works! Bought this vaccum less than 6 months ago. Only used it 4 or 5 times because every time we used it, it died before we were done vaccuming the house. Usually the brush roller just seizes up from hair. Funny. We expected a vaccum cleaner that could withstand lots of hair since it is specifically marketed for pet hair. We have a golden retreiver with long hair. We've already replaced the brush roller because the end snapped off after getting hair wrapped around it. Now the pulley motor is broken and it won't turn at all. I called customer service and they said they'll pay to ship it to their service center, but they won't let me just return it for the purchase price. After only 5 uses, it shouldn't be breaking down at all! I'll never buy another Eureka product!

I bought this vacuum about 6 months ago and have to replace the roll brush already. It wore away at the plastic housing it sits in as well. I don't know if I will have to replace the housing yet. Going to get a new beater bar and see if it works. This vacuum is very heavy too. The dust cup is too small. It cleans well but I hate this vacuum!

We have now had this vacuum for about a year and we have already had to replace the beater bar the dust wand and now the beater bar has failed again this time chewing up the plastic housing that it fits in. I believe its a piece of junk and think its time I bought another Hoover.

I have 7 cats so need a vacuum to handle pet hair. First the good things; works well on carpets, defurred the cat tree and furniture effortlessly, the edge tool works well. The bad things; does not do well on bare floors, does not transition from carpet to bare floors well, advertised edge cleaning doesn't work must use edge tool. Haven't tried the duster yet. I am not returning it but not entirely happy either. Could definitly be better.

I used to own a panasonic that cost almost 500$ 10 years ago. It was great with little problems. But, I really didn't want to spend that kind of money again, so I researched. I found the Eureka to have what I wanted. I have had my Eureka for about a month and love it. Everything works well and I can't believe how much my old vacuum was no longer picking up. I knew the eureka was going to be heavy, but for the price and options, it was well worth the trade off. Fact is, after time, every vacuum will lose its umph, not matter what brand you buy. I've had a Rainbow, Kirby, Dirt Devil, Electrolux, Panasonic and now the Eureka. Which one is the best, All of them when they were new! The real choice here is, what works for you, and what you want. I don't expect this vacuum or any other vacuum under 200$ to last more than 5 years. But at 500$ +, I'd rather have a new vac every 5 years for less cost. Read reviews, but realize, it comes down to your budget and choice of options.

I purchased this vac as a replacement to my 11 year old Kirby. If anyone knows the Kirby Brand it was quite pricey but after having it "serviced" it didn't seem to pick up like it did before so we bought the Boss 4D. I was instantly surprised by the amount of dog hair and dirt that was in my one year old house. I loved not having to change the bag. There are two draw backs...the weight (I might be spoiled by the transmission in the Kirby) and the switch to activate the fan. After two returns we finally got one that had the switch not broken. So far soo good. The Kirby's bags were three for $10 and we would have easily have gone through 6 bags after a through cleaning.

The motor for the roller of our machine stopped working after less than 6 months of very light use. WHile the machine did seem to pick up a lot of dirt, it is very heavy and hard to turn. It is also not much use on stairways, due to the weight. I would not recommend this machine and I would never buy a Eureka product again. They want me to ship it at my cost to a service center.

I have used this vacuum in a cleaning business every day for 2 years. I have never changed the belt and I love it. I saw bad reviews on it when I bought it and almost returned it before I even tried it out because of them. I would recommend my bagless 4D to anyone but now I need one strictly for my house and with the reviews I am reading once again I am afraid to buy another one. How can a factory put out the same vac and one be horrible and the next just fantastic? Best vac I have owned in 24 years BUT............

I bought this vacuum a year ago and it has now crapped out! It not only blows white dust every time i turn it on, but no longer picks anything up. Just the hassle of dumping all the dust and dander out of the canister alone makes it impossible to be an "allergen remover". My sister got the same vacuum for her bridal shower,..used it twice and it broke with 2 uses the same way mine did, just vacuuming a carpet. This vacuum was a complete waste of money and a hassel. The supposively self cleaning duster NEVER worked and was completely useless. They had a good idea but they made their product cheap!
